About Edmonson Contracting LLC

Edmonson Contracting LLC is a proud family-owned business built on generations of hard work, craftsmanship, and dedication. Our story began with Johnny “Pip” Edmonson, born in 1950, who started laying brick and block at just eight years old to help his father support a family of sixteen. Over the years, he mastered his trade and went on to build homes, businesses, and custom projects across Escambia County.

I’m Shannon Edmonson, and I had the privilege of learning side-by-side with my grandfather from a young age. He taught me the value of quality work, honest effort, and standing behind every job we do. Together we’ve completed hundreds of projects over the years—from fences, decks, and docks to patios and home remodels—all built with the same attention to detail he passed down.

Today, I’m proud to carry on that family tradition and pass it along to my own son. At Edmonson Contracting, we believe a project is more than just a structure—it’s a reflection of trust. We take pride in our craftsmanship, our relationships, and our reputation for doing the job right. Our goal is to build not just strong fences and decks, but lasting relationships that stand the test of time.

Fence & Deck Guide for Molino & Pensacola Homeowners

What to know before you build: materials, permits, pricing ranges, and how Edmonson Contracting delivers clean, durable results in Northwest Florida.

1) Choosing the Right Fence

In Escambia County, privacy fences are the most requested because they block wind, add security, and help tame the Florida sun. Pressure-treated pine is affordable and strong; cedar resists insects and brings a warmer look; composites reduce maintenance. We set posts deeper than bare minimum, use quality concrete, and align rails true so your fence line stays straight. Gates are the stress point—upgraded hinges and latches prevent sagging and make daily use smoother.

2) Decks That Feel Solid Underfoot

The difference between a “nice deck” and a great deck is what you can’t see: footings, fasteners, and framing. We build on a level foundation, use corrosion-resistant hardware for coastal air, and finish with clean board spacing and flush edges. Wood is timeless; modern composites handle moisture and heavy traffic. Add rail lighting or steps for safer evenings outside.

3) Pergolas, Patios & Shade

A pergola adds structure and shade without closing off your yard. We match roof slat angles to the sun path, and we can integrate metal accents or privacy screens. Patios—concrete or pavers—benefit from proper grading and drainage so you aren’t battling puddles after summer showers.

4) Building Near the Coast: Docks & Hardware

Salt air and sun are hard on materials. For docks and waterfront builds, we spec tougher hardware, UV-resistant finishes, and smarter fasteners. The result: a structure that holds up to tide, time, and regular use.

5) Permits, HOA & Timeline

Some projects require permits or HOA approval. We explain what’s needed up front and help navigate the paperwork so there are no surprises. A typical fence install is 1–3 days once materials arrive; decks and pergolas vary by size and site conditions. We set clear expectations on day one and update you as we work.

6) Budget Ranges (Every Yard is Different)

Pricing depends on footage, terrain, and material selection. During your free quote we measure, discuss options, and give a transparent breakdown. Many homeowners start with a privacy fence and later add a deck, pergola, or patio in phases—planning ahead keeps the whole space cohesive.

Why “Built Strong. Built Right.” Matters

Owner Shannon Edmonson brings fighter-grade discipline to the job site: straight lines, tight corners, tidy cleanup. We don’t speed past the details that determine how your project looks in two summers. That’s the difference you see from the curb—and feel every day you use your space.
